PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings from the Middletown Valley Athletic
Association,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
you for visiting the Middletown Valley Athletic
Association (MVAA) web site and introduce you to our
sports program. The MVAA was created in 1971 to
afford the children and parents of the Middletown
Valley an opportunity to participate and compete in
a variety of sports. Over the past 35 years, the
MVAA has grown to more than 1,200 families to become
one of the finest youth sports associations in the
state of Maryland. On behalf of the Board of
Directors and parents of Middletown, I want to thank
all the volunteers that help shape the minds and
bodies of our youth. Furthermore, it needs to be
emphasized that all personnel within the MVAA are
dedicated volunteers who give of their time and
themselves to make your child’s athletic experience
positive and memorable.
The primary goal of the MVAA is that all of our
children be afforded an opportunity to participate
in instructional, recreational, and competitive
athletics. Currently, the MVAA offers 9 sporting
activities where young athletes may participate.
Many of these sports offer different levels of
athletic competition, ranging from developmental,
recreational through select-level play, so that a
wider range of children may take advantage of the
different levels of competition. The MVAA primary
vision is to produce young adults who understand and
display the meaning of leadership, discipline,
integrity, hard work, and personal courage. Along
with this experience, we hope to teach our athletes
how to win with pride and accept defeat with
dignity; a lesson we hope they will carry with them
through life.
The MVAA is not just about sports. As our
community expands, so does the need for adequate
park and field space. The strategic planning
initiative of the Board of Directors, in concert
with the Town Board, secured the funding for the
development of 88 acres of open land from the
Remsberg family to be used for parks and recreation
fields.
The Remsberg Park Project is a collaborated effort between
the MVAA, the Town of Middletown, and Maryland
Project Open Space.
This acquisition of much needed field space will
greatly reduce the current over-utilization of our
park fields and enhance our athletic program. MVAA
also sponsors social affairs within the community
where parents and children convene in order to bond
and nurture friendships for life.
Please explore our web site and if you have any
questions or comments, please feel free to contact
me (Brian@mvaasports.com)
or any member of our Board of Directors (see BOD
link at top left). As always, we will be happy to
assist you.
Sincerely,
Brian D. Moore
President, Middletown Valley Athletic Association
