MVAA In-House Soccer

Junior Academy (Pre K- 4's)
This is designed to be fun and interactive. We utilize unique games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passion and shooting. Our goal is to cultivate a love of the game at an early age. For kids interested in learning the fundamentals of soccer and gain experience, this is a great place to start. Practice is one evening per week (TBD once coaches are identified) and on Saturdays. Players must turn 4 before or within the season.

Junior Academy- Kindergarten

Offers fun games focusing on individual skills and introducing small sided games. This level helps prepare players for healthy competition at older age groups. Practice is one evening per week and Saturdays (TBD once coaches are identified).

Junior Academy- 2nd grade
Offers "developmentally appropriate" training activities that are both challenging and fun. This level helps prepare players for healthy competition at older age groups. Practice is one evening per week (TBD once coaches are identified). Scrimmages are played against other local clubs on Saturdays, minimal travel is required.

United Recreational Soccer League (URSL) 3rd-8th Grade

3rd/4th grade- Practices 2 times each week with games on the weekends against other teams within Frederick County and surrounding areas. 7v7 format

5th/6th grade- Practices 2-3 times per week with games on the weekends against other teams within Frederick County and surrounding areas. 9v9 format

7th/8th grade- Practices 2-3 times per week with games on the weekends against other teams within Frederick County and surrounding areas. 11v11 format

NEW MVAA Indoor Soccer sessions at Hagerstown Field House

MVAA Soccer is excited to offer Winter Indoor Soccer at the Hagerstown Field House! This is a great opportunity for players to stay active, continue developing their skills, and enjoy soccer throughout the winter months.

Program Details

• Location: Hagerstown Field House
• Schedule: Weekdays (Monday–Friday), 5:30–6:30 PM
• Sessions: 8 sessions per group
• Season: Beginning in December, with a break around the holidays, and continuing through January and February
• Group Assignments: Each of our four groups will have its own designated day of the week. Specific days are still being finalized.

What to Expect

Indoor soccer offers a fun, fast-paced twist on the outdoor game! Players will learn to adapt to a smaller playing area, make quicker decisions, and use the walls strategically to keep the ball in play.

During the first session, we'll provide a brief introduction to indoor soccer, including some key differences from outdoor play.

Our focus will be on maximizing playing time and having fun! Rather than holding traditional practices, each session will primarily consist of organized scrimmages after we divide into two teams each time.

Winter Indoor Soccer Groups

We plan to offer four groups based on age and playing experience:

1. Younger Developmental – Coed Advanced 1st Grade through Developing 4th Grade
2. Intermediate Scrimmages – Coed Advanced 3rd Grade through 6th Grade
3. Advanced Scrimmages – Coed 6th through 8th Grade
4. Girls-Only Scrimmages 5th through 8th Grade

Choosing the Right Group

The grade ranges are intended as general guidelines, recognizing that players develop at different rates and have varying levels of experience. Our goal is to place each child in a group where they can participate safely, feel confident, be appropriately challenged, and have fun.

If you're unsure which group would be the best fit for your child, please reach out! We're happy to discuss individual circumstances and help determine the most appropriate placement. We're looking forward to a fun winter of soccer with our MVAA Knights!

Voluteer Support Positions

The success of our program has always been a direct result of volunteer participation in several important areas:

• Coaching – a crew of four or five members from each age group to facilitate games during practices; weekly lesson plans are distributed at the pre-season coaching clinic.
• Team Manager- team manager will work closely with coaches throughout the season to help with season events, information, distribution, etc.
• Field Maintenance - a crew of four to paint field lines and general members assist with game day field set-up and take-down.

Equipment Needs

MVAA provides jerseys and socks. Players need to have black shorts, shin guards and soccer cleats.
